Comparison of Cross-Laminated Timber and Reinforced Concrete Floors with Regard to Load-Bearing Properties

Floors of a building with the relatively new and environmentally sustainable structural material as cross-laminated timber (CLT) traditional reinforced concrete (RC) are compared in this paper regard to their load-bearing properties. StruSoft FEM-Design software is utilised model, analyse design an existing using CLT RC floors. The has three stories penthouse on top floor. Modelling, analysis can be summarised into five main steps. In step 1, floors modelled, analysed designed according geometries specifications building. then changed similar thickness function checked for tensile compressive stresses, utilisation ratio deflection 2. Step 3 involves checking what reinforcing required approved about same 4, it controlled whether larger without withstand identical conditions From obtained results, effects span width examined. stability 5. Further, terms ratios weights. results demonstrate advantages show good strength properties low It uncovered that both stable. Obtained from those calculations based Eurocode 2 5, which reveal agreements each other regarding accuracy.
